Panchakarma for Senior Guests: Travel and Comfort Guide
This guide covers the practical aspects of planning a Panchakarma programme at Fazlani for senior guests: travel, accommodation, daily life at the centre, and how the experience is adapted for older adults. For clinical protocol modifications, see our guide on Panchakarma safety for seniors.

Planning the Trip
When to Visit
The most comfortable months for senior guests are October to February, when daytime temperatures at Lonavala are moderate (20 to 28 degrees Celsius) and humidity is low. Mornings and evenings are cool (12 to 18 degrees Celsius), which is pleasant with a light layer.
March to May brings warmer weather that may be less comfortable for guests sensitive to heat. The monsoon (June to September) is lush and beautiful, and the humidity and rain may present challenges for guests with respiratory conditions or mobility limitations.
Programme Duration
The medical team generally recommends a minimum of 14 days for senior guests. The gentler pace of age-adapted protocols requires more time to achieve therapeutic depth. A 21-day programme allows the most comprehensive treatment within a comfortable pace.
See 7 vs 14 vs 21 Day Panchakarma.
Travelling with a Companion
Senior guests are welcome and encouraged to bring a travel companion, whether a spouse, family member, or caregiver. Companions can stay at the property and enjoy the gardens, walking trails, yoga sessions, and wellness offerings without undergoing Panchakarma. Companion accommodation should be arranged when booking.
For guests with significant mobility limitations or complex health needs, a companion is strongly recommended, especially for international travel.
Getting There
Airport Transfers
Fazlani arranges comfortable, air-conditioned airport transfers from both Mumbai (approximately 90 minutes) and Pune (approximately 70 minutes) international airports. The vehicle can be specified to accommodate mobility needs (lower entry height, extra space). Inform the guest services team of any specific requirements when arranging the transfer.
For senior guests arriving on long-haul international flights, the team recommends spending one night in Mumbai to rest before travelling to the centre. Arriving exhausted adds unnecessary stress.
See Getting Here for complete travel details.
What to Bring
See What to Pack for the general packing guide. Additional items for senior guests include a light jacket or warm shawl for cool mornings, comfortable non-slip footwear for walking on garden paths, reading glasses and a small flashlight for evening walks on the property, any mobility aids you normally use, and a written emergency contact card in your wallet or pocket.
Daily Life at the Centre
Accommodation
Rooms are comfortable with en-suite bathrooms. When booking, you can request ground floor accommodation (to avoid stairs), a room closer to the treatment area and dining room, specific bathroom requirements (grab bars, shower chair), and extra pillows or bedding for comfort.
Meals
The therapeutic diet is designed by the medical team and can be adapted for dental considerations (softer preparations if chewing is difficult), diabetic management (blood sugar-appropriate modifications), specific dietary restrictions, and texture preferences. Meals are served at consistent times, which supports both the treatment protocol and the circadian rhythm regulation that benefits sleep and energy.
Daily Schedule
The daily routine is structured and unhurried. A typical day includes early morning (6 to 7 AM) gentle yoga or breathing exercises (optional, adapted for ability), breakfast, morning treatment session (Abhyanga, Shirodhara, or prescribed therapy), rest and quiet time, midday meal (the largest meal of the day), afternoon rest or gentle walking in the gardens, afternoon treatment session (if prescribed), light evening meal, and early bedtime (9 to 10 PM).
The pace is designed to be restful, not demanding. Senior guests are never rushed between activities. Rest periods are built into every day, and the medical team adjusts the schedule if you are fatigued.
Getting Around the Property
Fazlani’s 68-acre property includes paved pathways, gardens, orchards, and walking trails. Some areas involve natural terrain with gentle slopes. The main areas (rooms, treatment centre, dining room) are connected by accessible paths. For guests with limited mobility, the team can arrange assistance or transport within the property.
Communication
Wi-Fi is available. Phone signal is adequate for calls and messaging. The front desk can assist with any communication needs. For international guests, the staff communicates in English.
Medical Support for Senior Guests
Enhanced Monitoring
Senior guests receive more frequent medical check-ins than younger adults. This includes daily vital signs (blood pressure, pulse), monitoring of any medication effects during the programme, daily assessment of treatment tolerance, and immediate access to the medical team if any concern arises.
Medication Management
The medical team manages all Ayurvedic medications alongside your existing prescriptions. Bring all medications in their original packaging with a clear list. The team ensures no interactions between your prescribed drugs and the Panchakarma herbal formulations. See Herb-Drug Interaction Safety Guide.
Emergency Preparedness
Fazlani is an NABH-certified centre with clinical infrastructure meeting hospital-grade standards. In the unlikely event of a medical emergency, the centre has trained medical staff available, and hospitals in Lonavala and Pune are accessible within a reasonable timeframe.
For Family Members: What to Know
If you are arranging a Panchakarma programme for a parent or elderly relative, here are the key considerations.
The medical team will conduct a thorough intake assessment on arrival and will not proceed with any treatment they consider inappropriate for the guest’s health status. See The Fazlani Screening Process.
Communication with the medical team is available throughout the programme. You can request updates on your family member’s progress and wellbeing (with their consent).
The programme is inherently gentle for seniors. Procedures are adapted, not imposed. The guest’s comfort and safety are the primary considerations at every stage.
Post-programme care is documented in a written plan that the guest brings home. This plan can be shared with their home physician for continuity of care. See Returning Home After Panchakarma.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a doctor available at all times?
The medical team is available during treatment hours. For after-hours concerns, on-call medical support is accessible. The NABH accreditation ensures that clinical protocols for emergency response are in place.
Can my parent receive Panchakarma if they have dementia?
Mild cognitive impairment does not necessarily preclude Panchakarma, though the guest must be able to communicate symptoms, follow basic post-procedure instructions, and consent to treatment. A companion is essential in this case. Advanced dementia is generally a contraindication due to communication and consent considerations. Discuss the specific situation with the medical team before booking.
What if my parent wants to leave early?
Guests are free to leave at any time. The medical team will provide a modified post-care plan based on the treatments completed up to that point.
Are there activities for a non-participating companion?
Yes. The property offers garden walks, yoga sessions, the organic farm, library and reading areas, and the peaceful natural environment. Companions can also enjoy non-Panchakarma wellness treatments such as massage and relaxation therapies.
How do I book for a senior family member?
Contact Fazlani’s guest services team and mention that the guest is a senior. The team will send the health questionnaire, discuss any specific needs, and recommend appropriate programme duration and accommodation. They may suggest a pre-arrival medical consultation to ensure the programme is well-suited.
This guide reflects the senior guest experience at Fazlani Nature’s Nest as of March 2026. Contact the centre for current details and to discuss specific requirements.

Every Panchakarma pathway starts with a clinical assessment. When you are ready, our medical team will design a programme around your case — not the other way around.
