How to use essential oils in a diffuser or oil burner for inhalation
The inhalation of essential oils can bring speedy relief to respiratory and stress related conditions.
1. For immediate effect, sprinkle 6-8 drops of essential oil on a tissue. Inhale deeply three times.
2.Add 4 to 6 drops of essential oil to water in a diffuse, oil burner (with tea light candle alight) or to an electric vaporiser. Caution: Do not leave candles burning unattended.
How to use essential oils in Massage
Massage is beneficial to the entire body or in many woman related imbalances to a localised body area. Apply the blend over the entire body or specific areas such as the lower abdomen and lower back application for localised imbalances can be done twice a day. Try to have a full body massage at least once a week, always massage in upward strokes. (Use heat pack or hot water bottle to accelerate absorption and relieve pain)
How to use essential oils in the Bath
Full Body Bath – Using essential oils in a bath is enjoyable and very effective because the oil can act in two ways, through absorption into the skin and by inhalation, as the warm water causes evaporation of the essential oil. Add a tablespoon of preferred massage oil blend specific to your needs directly to the water, agitate the water lay back and enjoy the deeply therapeutic benefits.
How to use essential oils in a Compress
A compress is simply water and essential oil applied externally to a localized part of the body with a cloth. A compress can be hot or cold depending on the condition. A hot compress should be as hot as can be tolerated and reduces muscular pain and cramping. A cold compress should have ice cubes in the water for maximum effect and is used for treating, swelling, headaches and to reduce fever. Add 5 drops of essential oil to an equal amount of dispersant such as milk, jojoba or alcohol and add to water. Using a small soft cloth, immerse the cloth into the water and squeeze gently, place over the affected area. Repeat several times for maximum effect. Cloth may be left on for 2 -4 hours – cover the cloth with plastic wrap and a towel or blanket on top. Cold compresses should always be kept moist.
Caution:
When Essential oils are used correctly, they will assist in bringing balance, energy and calm to our minds, bodies and souls. When essential oils are misused, they can have the opposite effect. At all times adhere to the above instruction of use and dilutions. For your safety just think essential oils should not be applied directly to the skin, there are exceptions, however as beginners just stick to the rule, do not apply directly to the skin, always dilute. Never take any essential oil internally, do not use on children under 16 or persons with asthma. Use candles with caution and keep hot water away from children and animals. Enjoy your Aromatic Journey!
